Much of what we’re sharing about this beautiful painting in these pages is pure conjecture. The artist, Tom DuBois didn’t see it. He didn’t deliberately paint it into the picture. He didn’t even really believe in Jesus at that point in his life when he began to drop these characters into the painting in a way as he said, “that just looked right” for some reason. At the same time, he was already an established name among collectors of Christian art. With beautiful images for instance, of Noah and of the first Christmas. Christian fans would visit him during his exhibitions and ask Him questions he couldn’t answer. Tom began work on this painting just a few months after 9/11, when there were a lot of folks going back to church and searching for answers. So he writes: “When work began on the painting, I also began to visit church again for the first time in 30 years. I thought, what better way to reacquaint myself with the belief of people who collect my artwork than to return to church again.” That journey is an amazing story – a year and a half process of research and painting and discovery that led him ultimately to step back and grasp the entire picture. He says, “What I saw was absolutely striking! I saw not just a picture of Jesus, but the blessed Jesus Christ of Nazareth triumphantly entering my life!”
